Touch Newsletter #238

Welcome to the Touch Newsletter #238. We come toward the end of the first stage of Touch: Isolation, with new recordings by Sohrab and Fennesz.

For the last two months we have published new pieces twice weekly each Monday and Thursday… To follow: the last post on Monday by Charlie Campagna, an artist who will be unfamiliar to many of you – a desert recording from Joshua Tree…

We trust you will see this as a whole work; it’s never too late to catch up. We view it as a narrative hoping that ecology and the future of this earth is going to win through against the dreadful political and mediated mendacity that can only worsen the situation. Fuck them all.

The subscription will remain open for the foreseeable future, so there is still time to support independent music, its artists and its fragile support systems. Thank you to everyone who has taken the plunge. Click here to subscribe.

Sohrab
“In the World”

“There is no greater solitude than that of the samurai unless it is that of the tiger in the jungle… Perhaps…” – Jean-Pierre Melville.

I read from the ending of Maxim Gorky’s book “In the World” (the second in his autobiographic trilogy). These books depict Gorky as a child, discovering the cold, brutal and lonely world he encountered and felt completely alienated from. As a young boy, he always found the forest a magical, holy place, a chance to be away from it all. He writes bitterly about the alienation of humans, and his desire to isolate himself from the world. I found that this short section offered a glimpse of optimism.

Fennesz
